DIY Polka dots manicure while traveling

Hey guys, 

Just wanna quickly share with you this simple polka dots manicure i did while traveling. When I’m away, I only bring a 2 bottles of nail polishes with me, one neutral and one color. As you can see here, a nude pink color and emerald green. These colors go with most of outfits that i brought with me and they’re both from Brucci by the way. And when I feel like I want a playful manicure, I can combine them. This is one of those times. I didn’t even bring my dotting tool with me so I used the end of a Q-tip. You can use a toothpick, an old pen or the end of a bobby pin but I was looking for a bigger circular shape for this one. The bigger dots cover my nails quickly so I don’t have to spend too much time while traveling.

I started by placing a row of dots down the center of my nail (like how i did here- a more sophisticated polka dot design) and then space the rest of the dots accordingly. The Q-tip gives the dots a rather blotchy and water coloring look, which i like.

2. Two coats of Sinfulcolors professional in ‘Social Ladder’ #924
3. Designs done using metallic gel pens in grey and gold.
4. Top coat: Elf’s Matte topcoat

2. One coat of Brucci’s ‘Bare Essentials’
3. Wet n Wild’s ‘Kaleidoscope’ sponged to the nail tips
4. Top coat: Seche Vite dry fast top coat

Layering Sinfulcolors Professional’s ‘Green Ocean’ on top of ‘Rise and shine’ for this beautiful sunny weekend in NY. 

Neon green with gel pen design manicure! 

Polish used:

1. Base coat:Sally Hansen Triple Strong Nail Fortifier
2. Two coats of Sinfulcolors professional in Innocent #944 (Check out this post, all the Sinfulcolors polishes are 99cents each this week only) Don’t be afraid, this color is not THAT neon. Here it looks like a highlighter but it looks beautiful in real life. Trust me ;-)
3. Designs done using a metallic gel pen in blue.
4. Top coat: Seche Vite dry fast top coat

Emerald and gold sponging manicure. I have another fun, easy and Springy manicure for ya.

2. Two coats of Brucci nail hardener in iCharlie
3. Gold sponged nail tips was done using Sally Hansen Xtreme wear nail color in #485 Golden-I

So simple, but I feel like I’m wearing a universe on my nails :-)

I saw this nail polish many time but never got it until now. Love the way it looks against black

2. 2 layers of Sinfulcolors Professional in ‘Morning Star’ I absolutely love this color. It’s pastel, it’s lilac, it’s slightly shimmering …everything i love in 1 bottle.

Spring is here! 

I love this bright blue color from @wetnwildbeauty’s megalast collection. It’s called ‘I need a refresh-mint’. It comes out to be very much like Tiffany blue. So i went with the girly feeling and put some black lace as the design.

2. wet n wild’s megalast in Break the ice - Absolutely gorgeous color! Love it!
3. I stamped using wet n wild’s wild shine in Caribbean Frost - This color is metallic and it stamped just fine. I could be more opaque but I’m not complaining because it gives this design such a subtle feeling. This is great if you wear this to work and you don’t want your manicure to be too loud and distracting.

In these pictures, I tried out the colors and also tried stamping again. I got a few konad plates a few years ago but did not get into it. I’m picking it back up to see if that will change ;-) So, don’t mind the sporadic, random stamped images on my nails. I just wanted to maximize my nail real estate :-D

On my thumb was Wet n Wild ‘I Red a good book/ Ballon rouge’ _ I love this red. It wasn’t my first choice because it seemed too bright at first but now that I have it, really love it.

On my index finger was ‘On a trip/ En voyage’ _Purple is my favorite color, ‘nough said :-)

On my middle finger was ‘Disturbia/ Audace’ _ This is a deep, rich purple with shimmering effect. I think it’s very elegant!

On my ring finger was ‘I need a refresh-mint/ Menthe fraiche’ _ A must have for Spring!

Finally, on my pinky was Spoiled’s polish called ‘visually slimming’ _ I originally got this polish for stamping because the only true black color i have is my striper but I’m re thinking it after seeing it on my nail. I think it would be great if I add another glittery polish on top.

These polishes went on very easily and while I was skeptical about the new wide brushes they have, they don’t bother me at all :) I even think they make nail painting more fun! Anyways, did you get any new polish this week? Tell me! :-)
